Florida keys Islamorada fishing report.

6-28-17 Florida Keys Fishing Report
We have been having a spectacular fishing season so far this summer! Dolphin fishing has been red hot for almost the whole month of June and May was pretty good as well. Swordfishing has been very good and we caught 2 swords on our last trip, and the reef and wreck fishing has been great with lots of yellowtail snapper, mangrove snapper, and some nice mutton snapper as well. And oh yeah, the grouper opener in the beginning of may was red hot with limit catches of nice Black Grouper for the entire first 1/2 of May! Looking ahead the late summer and early fall fishing in August and September has always been my favorite time to fish here in Islamorada. Look for excellent black fin tuna fishing in addition to some great dolphin fishing and sword fishing during that time frame.

4-21-17 Islamorada Fishing ReportSpring is here and fishing has been great in the waters offshore of the Florida Keys. We've been catching a very wide variety of species all depending on the weather and the clients preferences. Everything from dolphin or "mahi-mahi" and blackfin tuna offshore, to big amberjacks and mutton snapper wreck fishing, to sailfish, kings, and wahoo live bait fishing, to yellowtail snapper and muttons on the reef. We also caught a decent swordfish on our last sword trip. Looking ahead May 1st will see the opening of grouper season in the South Atlantic. We're looking forward to putting a bunch of these big black grouper we've been releasing the last few months in the fish box. The dolphin or mahi mahi have been starting to show offshore and by mid May we should be headed offshore in full dolphin fishing mode for the summer. Swordfishing should also peak over the next 4 or 5 months and we're hoping to top last seasons 400 pounder caught in late May. As usual we've been holding some dates for swordfish trips so give Capt. Bruce a call to get out and catch a true monster. Here are some recent pictures.

2-21-17 Florida Keys Fishing Report
We're having a great winter season in the waters offshore of Islamorada. We've had a great sailfish season with a good number of sailfish caught along with blackfin tuna, kingfish, wahoo, and the occasional mahi mahi mixed into the catch live bait trolling and kite fishing. We've also had some excellent bottom fishing for various snapper on our offshore ledges, wrecks and the reef. Fishing should continue to stay hot the next few weeks and we should start seeing even more variety in the catches as spring approaches. Thanks
Capt. Bruce

12-28-16 Islamorada Fishing Report
Both the offshore and reef fishing in the upper Florida keys have been excellent. Live bait and kite fishing for sailfish, kingfish, and blackfin tuna have been very productive just offshore of the reef. There seem to be plenty of sailfish and other pelagic species in the Islamorada area and we're off to a great start to the winter season. The great sailfishing should peak over the next 2 months and continue into the spring. Reef fishing for yellowtail snapper and patch reef fishing for yellow tail and mutton snapper have also been excellent and have been filling the cooler on many fishing charters.

11-1-16 Florida Keys Fishing Report
Sorry for the long time between reports. We've had an excellent fall season in Islamorada and we're on track for a great winter season as well. August, September, and October saw great tuna fishing here in the Florida Keys with dolphin and wahoo mixed in to the catch offshore. Reef fishing for yellowtail snapper, mutton snapper, mangrove snapper and grouper was also excellent. Now that the cold fronts have arrived we are seeing great signs for our coming winter season. We already have a decent amount of sailfish in the area and the kingfish, wahoo, mutton snapper, and blackfin tuna that make up our winter live bait fishing season are showing up in great numbers.

6-30-16 Islamorada Fishing Report
We've had some amazing catches over the last month aboard the Captain Easy here in the Florida Keys. Although the dolphin fishing has come later this year than most we still managed to bring some spectacular catches to the dock and we had some amazing swordfish catches including the biggest sword we've ever caught. The late arrival of the mahi mahi should be very good for our late summer season. The last few years we've seen excellent fishing in August and September with red hot dolphin, tuna, and sword fishing that time of year. Check out the pictures of some of the dolphin we caught so far this season and this monster 400# swordfish!

5-10-16 Florida Keys Offshore and Reef Fishing Report
Fishing has been on fire down here in Islamorada the last few weeks! Both offshore and reef fishing have been fantastic. Offshore we're catching lots of dolphin or mahi mahi. We've had some nice catches with both quantity and quality including "slammers" up to 40 pounds on some trips. The dolphin season is just starting to heat up right now and should be at it's peak now through June. Swordfishing has also been very good. We've caught some nice swords over the last few weeks and are looking forward to the peak of that fishery over the next 4 months. Reef fishing has been spectacular with red hot yellowtail snapper fishing and a great start to grouper season witch opened on may 1st. We're catching our limit of yellowtail on most reef fishing trips along with mutton snapper and black grouper as well.

3-30-16 Islamorada Fishing Report
So far this spring we've seen excellent fishing offshore of the Florida Keys. We're catching a variety of species including sailfish, wahoo, kingfish, mutton snapper, and tuna live bait fishing right outside the reef, amberjack, tuna, and dolphin offshore and on the Islamorada hump, and yellowtail, mangrove, and mutton snapper reef fishing. Yesterday we caught a few of the nicest blackfin tuna I've seen in years with one tipping the scales at 35 pounds. We've also put some nice mutton snapper in the fish box. While the live bait fishing is still good, we should see offshore fishing heat up over the next month with more and more dolphin in the catch by early May and the tuna and amberjack fishing peaking in April.

2-19-16 Florida Keys Fishing Report
We've seen excellent fishing on our fishing charters the last few weeks despite some less than ideal fishing conditions. Some of the best fishing I've seen, including a spectacular day of wahoo fishing with some very tough conditions other days thanks to the severe weather we've seen with the El Nino winter we're having. Every fishing trip has truly been different offshore, but when it's been hot it's been red hot. We've had some great sailfish days and excellent bottom fishing with both deep water snapper and wreck fish like african pompano and mutton snapper. We've also caught a lot of nice blackfin tuna. I'm looking forward to a great spring with some better fishing conditions ahead!

12-31-15 Islamorada Fishing Report
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year from the Capt. Easy family and crew! We're having a spectacular fishing season in the Florida Keys. Sailfishing has been very good with several sails on just about every trip that we've targeted them on. Bottom fishing has been good both while wreck fishing and patch reef fishing. Just yesterday we finished the grouper season up by catching our limit of big black grouper and we've been catching monster mutton snapper on patch reefs. Blackfin tuna, kingfish, dolphin, and wahoo have rounded out the catch. Don't wait to book your fishing charter and come on down to the Keys!

12-17-15 Florida Keys Fishing Report
The last few weeks have seen excellent fishing offshore of Islamorada. Sailfish, wahoo, kingfish, and blackfin tuna have made up the bulk of the catch live bait trolling just offshore of the reef. We've also caught grouper and mutton snapper bottom fishing. All the signs are pointing to an excellent winter season.

12-1-15 Islamorada Fishing Report
We're back in action after a long project in the boat yard this year. I've been working on the Capt. Easy since 1997 and I can honestly say that this is the best shape I've ever seen the boat in cosmetically, mechanically and structurally! It looks like we got back just in time for some hot sailfish action! we had a great week of sailfishing on our fishing charters offshore of Islamorada with multiple sailfish releases on each of the last 3 trips and a bunch of dolphin (mahi-mahi). We've also been catching mutton, mangrove, and yellowtail snappers reef fishing and grouper and amberjacks wreck fishing.

11-6-15 Florida Keys Offshore Fishing charter Report
Sorry for the long time between reports, We've been busy, Real Busy. The fishing in September and October was on fire and lived up to all of my expectations for that time of year. Both tuna fishing and dolphin fishing where very, very good. With the exception of 1 or 2 days we slayed the tuna and dolphin for almost the whole period from late august through early October. Reef fishing and sword fishing where also good.

8-23-15 Florida Keys Offshore and Reef Fishing Report
Fishing right now offshore of Islamorada is Hot! Late summer and early fall are always my favorite time to fish in the Keys and this year is shaping up to be no exception. On all but 1 or 2 trips dolphin fishing has been spectacular. We're catching nice gaffer size mahi mahi with some slammer bull dolphin up to 45 pounds on our offshore fishing charters. In addition to dolphin fishing the black fin tuna are showing up in force and this combination makes for an awesome fishing trip. The tuna fishing should peak in the next few weeks and on top of all this September is usually our best month for sword fishing. I highly recommend coming down to the keys in the next month to get in on the action!

6-27 15 Islamorada Offshore Deep Sea Fishing Report
We've had a great month of fishing charters in the Florida Keys. The weeks have seen spectacular dolphin fishing with plenty of schoolie and gaffer size dolphin as well as slammer dolphin. Swordfishing and reef fishing have also been very good. Sword fishing, dolphin fishing and Blackfin tuna fishing should all be going very strong for the end of summer and early fall.

5-26-15 Florida Keys Charter Fishing Report
The fishing offshore of Islamorada has been outstanding. What a month we're having! We started out with the South Atlantic grouper opener and were rewarded with excellent grouper fishing. We caught our limit of big black grouper on the opener and had several awesome trips in the following weeks including one day with a monster black grouper that tipped the scales at 46 pounds. That's the nicest grouper we've seen in years. We also had great success on our swordfish trips. Just last weekend we caught a 250 pound swordfish on Friday and a 100 pound fish on Saturday. The daytime sword fishing seems to be better than ever this year. We're looking forward to a big summer! Dolphin fishing has been great. We're catching plenty of schoolies and gaffers as well as some monsters including these 2 slammer bull mahi both over 40 pounds!

Dolphin fishing peaks in may and june and the best swordfishing occurs from now through the summer and into the fall. In addition to the amberjacks we're also catching black fin tuna, grouper, and some big mutton snapper on both vertical jigs and slow pitch jigs. Yellowtail snapper fishing on the reef has been good and live bait fishing has produced kingfish, mutton snapper, blackfin tuna, wahoo, and some sailfish as well.

A whole mix of deep drop snapper and grouper offshore. Some big amberjacks on the Islamorada hump and our deep wrecks. And we caught a couple of swordfish on our last 2 swordfish trips. It's still early in the year for daytime swordfishing. Our best fishing for the swords takes place from May through October. We just upgraded our sword tackle and have some awesome new toys to play with this summer. We're booking sword fish trips now and are looking forward to putting some really big fish on the dock this year!

12-20-14 Florida Keys Offshore and Reef Fishing Report
Fishing has been great in Islamorada. Our sailfish season is going strong and we're also catching dolphin (mahi-mahi), kingfish, tuna, snapper, and wahoo. Just yesterday we had an awesome afternoon of sailfishing. In the last 2 hours of the trip we caught several sails and a friend got some of the best pictures I've ever gotten of the Capt. Easy in action. The sailfish action should continue over the next few weeks! Here are a few pictures from yesterday afternoon.

11-21-14 Islamorada Fishing Report
Our sailfish season is starting to turn on in the Florida Keys. Cooler temps are bringing the sails offshore of Islamorada. The fishing has been good, but the best is yet to come. December and January have been the most consistent months for hot sailfishing the last few years and all the signs are pointing to a great season. We're already catching sailfish as well as kingfish, tuna, dolphin, snapper, grouper, and wahoo outside the reef.

10-11-14 Florida Keys Deep Sea Fishing Report
What an awesome fall fishing season we're having offshore of Islamorada. September and October are hot months for catching tuna, dolphin, and swordfish, but this year has been exceptionally good, especially black fin tuna fishing offshore of the Florida keys at the Islamorada Hump and our other offshore sea mounts. Now that the season is changing here in the keys look for our wintertime species to show up. There should be sailfish, kingfish, wahoo, grouper, and snapper beyond the reef while the tuna, dolphin, and swordfish fishing remains good.

8-14-14 Islamorada Fishing Report
We Had an amazing summer of offshore fishing in the Florida Keys. The dolphin fishing was as good as I've seen. June, July, and the first 1/2 of August have been exceptional fishing. The weather has been flat calm almost every day and we had huge schools of schoolie and gaffer dolphin offshore of Islamorada for almost the entire summer. There where bigger "slammer" dolphin around also, but mostly big schools of fish up to 15 pounds. Sword fishing has been very good. We caught swords up to 300 pounds this summer and had a high success rate (about 70%) on sword fish trips. The best time to come to the Florida Keys and catch a sword fish is late summer and early fall so the next 2 months should be outstanding. We're also looking forward to the September tuna run, witch usually starts in late August and goes through September and into October. The combination of great sword fishing, tuna fishing, and dolphin ( mahi-mahi ) fishing makes for some of the best action all year. I highly recommend getting down here to Islamorad to get in on the best fishing of the year!

5-30-14 Florida Keys fishing report
Our dolphin fishing season is in full swing offshore of Islamorada. We had a very windy start to May witch kept us on the reef grouper and snapper fishing most days, but the last few weeks we've made it offshore and have been rewarded with excellent dolphin catches. There have been plenty of schoolie and gaffer size fish offshore on our fishing charters and we have also caught some monster slammer dolphin including this 58# bull dolphin. The grouper opener was good, we caught several nice groupers on our Florida keys reef and wrecks. The dolphin fishing and sword fishing should be the best things going for the month of june so come get in on some excellent offshore action.

On one trip we released 32 amberjacks between 30 and 80# as well as almaco jacks and banded rudderfish all on jigs with a group of vertical jigging enthusiasts from south Florida. Farther offshore we've had good dolphin (mahi-mahi) fishing with a lot of schoolies and some slammers up to 40#. Dolphin season is just starting to heat up and the next few weeks should see more and more consistent fishing until early may.
